This article cum interview documentary by BBC’s “Crossing Continents” on “Race Relations in Malaysia” was brought to my attention thanks to my Facebook friend Simon Tan.
First, here’s an interview with a youth who’s probably been indoctrinated with UMNO’s bigotry since birth. Observe closely how deeply and unerringly he believes his view:
Then we have another youth who demonstrates, through his inarticulateness, the opportunities for the higher education he has been denied due to his ‘race’:
After which, we hear from another youth who, because of her understanding of her religion, eschews discrimination based on ‘race’, but in turn causes us to question …
… “is there’s a danger that Islam, rather than race, could become the new divider in her vision of a future Malaysia?”
A question which Anwar Ibrahim answers.
Turn up the volume and listen carefully:
Although the article is rather dated (8th Jan 2009) it’s nonetheless worthwhile. Read the article HERE.
