Two politicians.

Both vying to be the next Prime Minister.

Both their enemies trying to bring them down.

Najib has the ghost of Altantuya haunting him.

Anwar has the spectre of sodomy snapping at his … er… heels [again].

Both have refuted allegations.

Najib called it “a pathetic attempt…”

The PM, upon waking up this morning, has said BN is not behind the allegation against Anwar.

According to Anwar’s press statement  [watch video, below]:

“The (sodomy) report has been organised by interested parties to attack me in retaliation for evidence I have recently obtained implicating IGP (inspector-general of police) Musa Hassan and the AG (attorney-general) Gani Patail in misconduct including fabrication of evidence in the cases launched against me in 1998-1999.

According to Malaysiakini, the report alleging sodomy was filed by Anwar’s aide, 23-year-old Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, yesterday.

This morning party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said that Saiful was a volunteer who joined to help the party during the general election period three months ago.

She added that little was known of him and that no background check was done on him as he was just a volunteer. He later become a special assistant to Anwar.

Saiful is a former student leader at the Universiti Tenaga Nasional.

The dirty politics have begun again. “You blast me, I blast you back, in the back” [no pun indended.]

IRRESPECTIVE OF the guilt or innocence of either party, DX says – “If you’re gay, you’re gay-lah, so what? But if you are an accomplice to murder, it is NOT ’so-what’”

Therefore, it is only logical that the following two Sections of the Penal Code must be repealed…

Section 377A. of the Penal Code:  Carnal intercourse against the order of nature.

Any person who has sexual connection with another person by the introduction of the penis into the anus or mouth of the other person is said to commit carnal intercourse against the order of nature.

377B.  Punishment for committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature.

Whoever voluntarily commits carnal intercourse against the order of nature shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to twenty years, and shall also be liable to whipping.

 … because simply, it’s another stupid law. Consensual sex between adults must never be subject to legislation, for as seen above, it can be misused as a political tool.

PKR today said party de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has received threats to his life and is currently holed up at the Turkish embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

 

According to PKR deputy president Dr Syed Husin Ali, the latest move to implicate Anwar in a sodomy charge lodged by an aide signaled a more serious effort by certain quarters to silence him for good.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi denied that the aide, Saiful Bukhari, was a pawn in the government plot to kill off its formidable political opponent.

“The government has no intention of wanting to make life difficult for him or to harass him,” Abdullah said.

Police confirmed that a sodomy complaint had been lodged but said Anwar would not be arrested “at the moment”.

ANWAR’S LATEST STATEMENT
Released at 5.30pm from the Turkish embassy in Kuala Lumpur
JUNE 29 — I am issuing this statement from within the embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Kuala Lumpur.

I was transported to the embassy earlier this morning fearing that my personal safety was in danger. I thank all those who offered to assist me in this time of need and am grateful to the Turkish ambassador for extending an invitation to seek refuge within the embassy.

Since the March 8 elections, numerous credible sources from within the government and military intelligence have advised me that certain agents from within Barisan Nasional leadership have initiated plots to cause harm to me or my family or my supporters.

I have been told that my assassination has not been ruled out as means to subvert the people’s will and bring an end to the transformational changes taking place in Malaysia.

Notwithstanding the threats which are intended to silence my voice, I intend make public new evidence implicating that the Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan and Attorney-General A. Gani Patail engaged in criminal acts of fabricating evidence in cases launched against me in 1998.

The allegations that have been made against me on Saturday are nothing more than a replay of the events which transpired in 1998 when I was sacked from the office of the deputy prime minister, jailed and beaten, and then charged and convicted by a kangaroo court for crimes which I never committed.

This charade was orchestrated by a corrupt Barisan Nasional leadership which made use of the entire apparatus of the state power including its control of the judiciary, the police force, and its grip on the mainstream media.

These actions are being repeated today to undermine the forces of reform and renewal which were unleashed in the March 2008 elections.

I would like to assure my family, friends and supporters in Malaysia that I am safe and remain committed as ever before to continuing the struggle for a free and just Malaysia.
